Rahveer Scheme for Accident Victims

Madhya Pradesh has initiated the Rahveer Scheme to incentivise good Samaritans who assist accident victims. This decision was made during a special cabinet meeting held at the historic Rajwada Fort in Indore. The scheme offers a reward of Rs 25,000 to individuals who help transport accident victims to medical facilities. The initiative aims to reduce road fatalities in a state that reported over 54,000 accidents in 2022.

Rahveer Scheme

The Rahveer Scheme encourages bystanders to help accident victims. To qualify, individuals must stop at the accident site, call for a 108 ambulance, and aid in transporting the injured. This initiative seeks to alleviate fears of police harassment for those who assist. It is expected to save numerous lives by promoting prompt medical attention.

Financial Implications

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet approved funding for various projects. The Rahveer Scheme is part of a broader allocation of Rs 3,867 crore for development initiatives. This funding will support social welfare, urban planning, and healthcare improvements across the state.

Employment-Oriented Schemes

The Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Training Scheme was also approved. This programme aims to enhance employment opportunities for the youth through skill development. Eligible individuals can receive an annual interest subsidy on loans, encouraging entrepreneurship and self-employment.

Support for Women in Workforce

To improve women’s participation in the industrial sector, the cabinet sanctioned the construction of 26 working women hostels. These hostels will provide safe housing and modern amenities, facilitating women’s entry into the workforce. The initiative includes partnerships with private entities and CSR funding to expand such facilities.

Urban Development Initiatives

Metropolitan Development Authorities were established for key cities including Indore and Bhopal. These authorities will oversee urban development, ensuring that it meets future needs while maintaining current municipal services. This move aims to streamline urban planning and enhance living conditions in urban areas.

Healthcare Enhancements

Significant investments were made in healthcare infrastructure. Rs 773 crore was allocated for the modernization of Indore’s MY Hospital. Additionally, Rs 321 crore was approved for Rewa’s district hospital, focusing on improving healthcare access and quality for residents.

Cultural and Spiritual Projects

The cabinet also approved a Rs 2,100 crore initiative centred around a statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Omkareshwar. This project aims to promote Sanatan traditions and includes the establishment of hostels and a spiritual research centre, enriching the cultural landscape of the state.
